Where to sell teaching resources online
Updated
Two questions decide where your resources should go: who will find them there, and how much of each sale you keep. Marketplaces bring buyers who are already searching. Storefront tools charge less, but every buyer has to come from you. Many sellers use one of each. Every fee below comes from each site's own published terms, with the date we checked it.
Teacher marketplaces
Teachers go to these sites looking for resources, so a new listing can be found by someone who has never heard of you.
TPT is the best known. Basic pays you 55 percent of each sale minus 30 cents per resource, with a one-time $29 fee for new sellers. Exclusive costs $59.95 a year and pays 80 percent now, 77.5 percent from January 1, 2027, but your digital resources can be sold only on TPT. Premium closed to new sellers on October 1, 2026. TPT seller fees has the full breakdown, checked against TPT's help center on October 20, 2026.
Honor System (that's us). Your cut is 90 percent of the item price, before card processing, which is Stripe's fee passed through at cost. On a $5 resource you'd get about $4.06. No membership fee, no listing fee, and no exclusivity. On TPT Basic you can keep your TPT store and list the same resources here; as a TPT Exclusive seller, you can't list paid teaching resources here (what Exclusive allows).
Smaller teacher marketplaces, checked on each site on October 16, 2026:
- Classful charges a 5 percent seller fee plus a card fee of 2.9 percent and 30 cents per transaction (terms).
- Amped Up Learning pays 80 to 90 percent of each sale to the seller (terms).
- Made By Teachers pays up to 80 percent, but isn't adding new sellers right now (plans).
General marketplaces
These have far more shoppers than any teacher site, but your resources sit next to every other kind of download, so teachers have to find them among everything else.
Etsy charges $0.20 per listing, charged again each time the listing renews (every four months, or after a sale). When something sells, it takes a 6.5 percent transaction fee on the price, plus payment processing if you use Etsy Payments. Offsite Ads fees apply only when an Etsy ad leads to a sale. Checked on October 21, 2026 (fees and payments policy).
Gumroad takes 10 percent plus 50 cents on sales through your own profile or links, and 30 percent when a new customer finds you through its Discover marketplace. It collects and pays sales tax for you. Checked on October 21, 2026 (pricing).
Storefront tools
With these, you run your own shop and bring every buyer yourself, from your email list, Instagram, Pinterest, or your blog. Nobody browsing finds you by accident.
Payhip is free with a 5 percent transaction fee, $29 a month with 2 percent, or $99 a month with none. Stripe or PayPal fees come on top on every plan. It collects and pays EU and UK VAT on digital sales and US and Canadian sales tax for you. Checked on October 21, 2026 (pricing).
Your own website on a store platform keeps the most of each sale after the software subscription and card fees. It's the place for buyers who already follow you, not for teachers who are searching.
Exclusivity
TPT Exclusive asks you to sell your digital educational resources only on TPT. TPT Basic and Honor System don't ask that. For any other site, read its seller terms before you list the same resource in two places.
One way to set it up
List on at least one teacher marketplace, so teachers who search can find you, and keep a storefront for the followers you already have. If you're on TPT Basic, you can add Honor System without changing anything about your TPT store. The move guide shows how to bring your catalog over in one upload, and the comparison puts TPT's memberships next to ours at several prices.
