TPT seller fees: what each membership pays you
Updated
TPT takes its share of your sales in two ways: a payout rate on each sale, and a membership fee. Which membership you're on changes both. Every TPT figure below comes from TPT's help center, checked on October 20, 2026, and links to the page it came from. TPT can change its terms, so check those pages before you decide anything.
The three memberships
Basic pays you 55 percent of each sale, minus a 30 cent transaction fee per resource sold. New Basic sellers pay a one-time $29 fee. You can sell your resources anywhere else. (Seller fees and payout rates)
Exclusive costs $59.95 a year. It pays 80 percent until December 31, 2026, then 77.5 percent from January 1, 2027, with a 15 cent transaction fee only on orders under $3. In return, your digital educational resources can be sold only on TPT. (FAQ for new and Basic sellers)
Premium closed to new sellers on October 1, 2026. It pays 80 percent, with the same 15 cent fee on orders under $3, until January 1, 2027. On that date, Premium sellers who haven't opted in to Exclusive become Basic sellers. (FAQ for existing Premium sellers)
What you keep on one sale
Here's what each membership pays you on a single resource, after TPT's transaction fee. Exclusive is shown at its 2027 rate, with the 2026 rate in brackets.
- $3 resource: Basic $1.35. Exclusive $2.33 ($2.40). Premium $2.40 until January 1.
- $5 resource: Basic $2.45. Exclusive $3.88 ($4.00). Premium $4.00 until January 1.
- $10 resource: Basic $5.20. Exclusive $7.75 ($8.00). Premium $8.00 until January 1.
These don't count the membership fee, which you pay once a year (Exclusive) or once ever (Basic).
Low prices and the 30 cent fee
Basic's 30 cent fee is the same on every resource, so it takes a bigger share the lower your price. On a $1 resource, Basic pays you 25 cents. On a $10 resource, the fee barely moves the number. If much of your catalog is priced under $3, look at Basic's numbers closely before you assume it's the safe choice.
When Exclusive's yearly fee pays for itself
On a $5 resource, Exclusive pays you $1.43 more per sale than Basic in 2027. At that difference, the $59.95 yearly fee is covered after about 42 sales a year. Below that, Basic leaves you with more, even though its rate is lower. At a higher price the difference per sale grows, so you get there sooner.
The catch is the exclusivity. Paid digital teaching resources you sell anywhere else have to come down: before you join if you're on Basic or new, and by January 1, 2027 if you're a Premium seller who opts in. The TPT Exclusive guide covers what that rule includes and what it leaves out.
What changes on January 1, 2027
- Premium ends. If you're a Premium seller and do nothing, your account becomes Basic. TPT waives the $29 Basic fee and refunds $5 for each month left on your Premium year.
- Exclusive's rate drops from 80 percent to 77.5 percent.
- Basic doesn't change.
Where Honor System fits
Your cut is 90 percent of the item price, before card processing. Card processing is Stripe's fee (about 2.9 percent plus 30 cents), passed through at exactly what Stripe charges. After it, you'd get $2.31 on a $3 resource, $4.06 on a $5 resource, and $8.41 on a $10 resource. There's no membership fee and no exclusivity.
At $3, Exclusive's 2027 rate pays you 2 cents more than we do. From $4 up, you keep more here, and you can keep selling on TPT Basic at the same time. You can't combine Honor System with Exclusive, since Exclusive asks you to sell your digital resources only on TPT.
