Accessibility
Honor System is a marketplace for teacher resources. We want every teacher who buys or sells here to be able to use the site with a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone, or a zoomed-in screen. This page says what we have checked, what we know does not work yet, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our conformance target
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That covers the site pages and the account, dashboard, checkout, and admin screens.
Last audit
Our last audit ran on October 19, 2026. It included:
- Automated checks (axe) on every public and signed-in page we ship, against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules. Each page is checked at its normal width, and the error pages are checked too.
- Color contrast checks on every color pair the interface uses, including the brand palette. Text needs 4.5 to 1 and controls and focus rings need 3 to 1.
- A keyboard pass on the main flows: moving through the site, focus visibility, dialogs, and the skip link.
- Checks that the site reflows at 320 CSS pixels with no horizontal scrolling, and that motion is removed when a visitor asks for reduced motion.
Automated tools find only part of the problems. The screen reader pass with VoiceOver on macOS Safari and iOS Safari was not finished on this date, so we are still checking those flows by hand. We will update this page when that pass is done.
What we know does not work yet
- Seller-uploaded files. Teachers upload their own PDFs and other files. We do not open those files to check them for accessibility. Some PDFs are marked as tagged, which we detect and show as a signal, and sellers can state the accessibility of their listing. Those signals are not a guarantee. If you need a file in another format, ask us and we will try to help, or ask the seller directly through the listing's report link.
- Stripe checkout. Payment happens on pages hosted by Stripe. Stripe is responsible for the accessibility of those pages.
- Screen reader testing. A full VoiceOver run has not been completed yet, as noted above.
- Filter sheet on phones (AX-52-01, logged October 19, 2026). The filter panel on search opens with focus inside, and Escape closes it and returns focus to the Filters button. Sometimes, when Tab reaches the last control in the panel, focus moves out of the page instead of back to the first control. This is intermittent, and we are working on it.
We will list any new known issue on this page with a date and a tracking reference, and we will take it off once it is fixed.
Report a barrier
If something on Honor System is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us. Email support@joinhonorsystem.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and what happened. Tell us what browser, device, or assistive technology you use if you can. We reply within 5 business days.
If you need the same information in another format, such as a large-print or plain-text copy of a page, ask at the same address and we will provide it.
How we build for access
- Pages use real headings, lists, and form labels, and each page has one main heading and one main region.
- We check that every control on the main pages can be reached and used with a keyboard, and that the focus ring is visible.
- Dialogs keep focus inside while they are open, close with Escape, and return focus to the control that opened them. The filter panel has one gap, listed above.
- Messages that appear after an action, such as "Added to your cart", are announced to screen readers. Error messages from the cart are announced as alerts.
- On the forms we have checked, error messages are linked to the field they describe.
- Charts on the seller analytics page come with a data table that screen readers and keyboards can open.
- Motion is removed when your device asks for reduced motion.
