Buyer License
Version 1, last updated
When you buy a resource, or download a free one, you get a license to use it. The seller keeps the copyright.
What one license covers
- One teacher. The license is for you, the teacher who bought it.
- One classroom. You may use it with the students you teach, in person or online.
- For life. It does not expire, and you can download updated versions the seller publishes.
You may print it, copy it for your students, and project or share it with your own class, including in your own class's learning management system course.
More than one teacher
Each license covers one teacher. To share a resource with colleagues, buy more licenses on the listing page. Each additional license is one more teacher, at the listing's additional license price.
What you may not do
- Share the files with other teachers, including by email or shared drives.
- Upload the files anywhere other people outside your classroom can reach them, such as a public website, a school-wide drive, or a course other teachers use.
- Resell, give away, or redistribute the files, changed or unchanged.
- Use the resource commercially.
Commercial use means using the resource to sell anything, to teach paid courses or workshops, to create products for sale, or to earn money from marketing.
How this compares with TPT
Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) is the largest marketplace for these resources, so here is how its two licenses compare with ours. This is our summary of TPT's Terms of Service as of 2026-10-10 (source). Check TPT's current terms before relying on it.
| Feature | TPT Individual License | TPT Classroom License | Honor System, classroom license |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who may use it | One named person, for life | One person at a time within an organization | One teacher and one classroom, for life |
| Transfer | Not transferable, except one transfer to give it as a gift | The organization can take it back from one person and give it to another, but not share it at the same time | Not transferable (see the open question below) |
| Commercial use | Not allowed | Not allowed | Not allowed |
| Price relationship to Individual | The base price | TPT sets a default premium over the Individual price; sellers can raise it up to 100 percent | One price per license; extra licenses at the seller's additional license price |
Open question for counsel
If a teacher leaves a classroom, can the teacher who takes over keep using a resource bought for that classroom? Open question for counsel. Until it is answered, the license belongs to the teacher who bought it.
If the license is broken
If you break this license, the seller or we may end it, and we may remove your access to the files.
