Teachers Pay Teachers alternatives for sellers
Updated
If TPT's changes for 2027 have you looking at sites like TPT, you have more options than it might seem, and they pay in different ways: a share of each sale, a yearly fee with no cut, or a higher share in return for selling nowhere else. Here's what each teacher marketplace pays, taken from each site's own published terms. For Etsy, Gumroad, Payhip, and other places that aren't just for teachers, see where to sell teaching resources online.
TPT itself
TPT has three seller options, and two of them change on January 1, 2027. These figures come from TPT's help center as of October 10, 2026.
- Basic pays you 55 percent of each sale, minus a 30 cent transaction fee per resource.
- Premium closed to new sellers on October 1, 2026. It pays 80 percent until January 1, 2027, when Premium sellers who haven't opted in to Exclusive move to Basic.
- Exclusive pays 80 percent now and 77.5 percent from January 1, 2027, with a 15 cent fee on orders under $3. In return you sell your digital resources only on TPT.
TPT explains the change in its FAQ for existing Premium sellers and its seller fee page. If you're deciding between Exclusive and Basic, the TPT Exclusive guide walks through the dates, the fee, and what Exclusive means for resources you sell elsewhere. TPT seller fees shows what each membership pays you on a $3, $5, and $10 sale.
Other teacher marketplaces
We checked each of these on its own site on October 16, 2026.
- Classful charges a 5 percent seller fee plus a card fee of 2.9 percent and 30 cents per transaction (terms).
- Amped Up Learning pays 80 to 90 percent of each sale to the seller (terms).
- Made By Teachers pays up to 80 percent, but isn't adding new sellers right now (plans).
- Teachers Love Creating plans a yearly fee of $97 to $197 with no commission, plus card fees. It's a prototype and not yet operating (site).
Rates change, so check each site's current terms before you decide.
Your own website
Selling from your own site means you keep the most per sale, but you also bring every buyer yourself. You'll pay for the store software and the card processing, and nobody browsing a marketplace will find you there. Many sellers keep their own site for their followers and list on a marketplace for teachers who search.
Honor System
Your cut is 90 percent of the item price, before card processing. The platform fee is 10 percent, and Stripe's card fee (about 2.9 percent plus 30 cents) comes out of your side at exactly what Stripe charges. On a $5 resource you'd get about $4.06. There's no membership fee, no listing fee, and no exclusivity, so you can keep selling on TPT and your own site.
The fees page has a calculator with your own prices, and the comparison puts TPT's three options next to ours at several price points.
How to choose
Start with where your buyers already are. If most of your sales come from TPT search, leaving TPT entirely is a big step, and Exclusive is the one option that stops you from selling anywhere else. If you'd rather keep your options open, pick places that don't ask for exclusivity and list the same resources in more than one.
